Proof of life

We must confirm that pensioner members living abroad remain entitled to receive their pension payment. We confirm their existence each year.

We must do this because those living abroad are not included on the National Fraud Initiative (NFI) database in the UK.

The Cabinet Office is responsible for the NFI and we must follow it. The NFI is an exercise that matches electronic data between public sector and private sector bodies in the UK. It prevents and detects fraud. For further information about the NFI, visit the National Fraud Initiative website

Process

This year, we have partnered with Crown Agents Bank to offer you a secure, electronic service. It allows you to complete the process digitally. Crown Agents Bank is a UK based bank. It is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA).

We (Kent Pension Fund) wrote to you on 5 January 2024 to tell you about Crown Agents Bank and let you know they will be contacting you. They wrote to you on 12 January 2024 to tell you about the new service and process.

The letter from Crown Agents Bank detailed how you need to register for their Empower pensions portal. It included your unique member reference number that you need to register. Read the Empower pensions portal registration user guide (PDF, 457.9 KB)
