State pension

In addition to your pension from the LGPS or Police Pension Schemes, you may also qualify for a State retirement pension paid by the government from State Pension age (SPa).

The State Pension is based on the National Insurance contributions you pay during your working life. Find out about your State Pension on the GOV.UK website

You have to claim your State Pension for the first time; you will not get it automatically. Claim your State Pension online when you are within 4 months of SPa.

If you have queries about your State Pension please visit The Pensions Service website. You can phone the general enquiries line on 0800 731 7898 or write to The Pensions Service, PO Box 50101, London SW1P 2WU.
