Pension Fund Committee

The Pension Fund Committee meets 5 to 6 times a year. It applies the powers and duties of Kent County Council (KCC) as the administering authority for the Kent Pension Fund. The committee is responsible for:

  • setting investment strategy
  • appointing professional fund managers
  • carrying out regular reviews
  • monitoring investments
  • monitoring the administration of the LGPS
  • determining pension fund policy about employer admission arrangements.

There are 15 Members who have full voting rights:

  • 11 Kent County Council representatives
  • 1 Medway Council representative
  • 3 district or borough council representatives.

The 4 non-voting members are:

  • 1 representative of non-local council employers. This is from nominations from other employers in the Fund, for example, academies, police, fire and other scheduled or admitted body employer.
  • 3 members representing scheme members:
    • 1 trade union representative nominated by Unison
    • 1 active member representative
    • 1 pensioner member representative.
