Take your AVCs as cash

If you take your Additional Voluntary Contributions (AVCs) at the same time as your Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) pension, you may be able to take some or, in some circumstances, all of your AVCs as a tax free lump sum.

Other options are:

• buy an annuity
• buy a Top-up LGPS Pension
• buy extra membership in the LGPS
