Additional Voluntary Contributions (AVCs) arranged through the LGPS are known as in-house AVCs. If you pay in house AVCs, the value of your AVC fund is payable when you die. This applies to any extra life cover or spouse or civil partner's pension paid for through AVCs.
If a lump sum is to be paid from your AVC fund, we have absolute discretion over who receives it. However it is helpful if you let us know your wishes. Complete an expression of wish for payment of death grant form
