Your extra pension contributions may be affected if you are absent from work and you have entered into a contract to buy Additional Voluntary Contributions (AVCs).
If you are on authorised leave of absence, jury service, strike action, reserved forces leave, maternity, paternity or adoption leave, you can arrange to continue to make your AVC payments throughout your leave.
If you are sick, you will continue to pay the AVCs on any pay received during sick leave. You can arrange to continue to make your AVC payments direct to the provider if you are on no pay.
